Office Depot Refuses To Print Pro-Life Flier For Catholic Customer. 'Hate Speech'...
Alright, allow me to set the stage. A woman in Illinois went to Office Depot to get fliers made that included some statistics about Planned Parenthood and a pro-life prayer. She was told the "anti-abortion prayer" on the flier violated Office Depot's policy.
Obviously, that's a bunch of nonsense. If there is one thing that tolerant liberals have recently taught us, it's that you can't refuse service based on your personal beliefs. But wait! Hold onto your hats, because you're about to walk into a Stage 5 Hypocrisy Crapnado.
Apparently you can at Office Depot...
Company spokeswoman Karen Denning tells the Chicago Tribune that Office Depot prohibits the copying of material that advocates “the persecution of certain groups of people,” among other criteria. She says the flier “contained material that advocates the persecution of people who support abortion rights.”
The "persecution of people who support abortion rights." Those words were actually arranged in that order and spoken out loud. By a human. Once again, that was "persecution of people who support abortion rights."
BTW, this is the flier in question (click the hyperlink for the PDF).
Notice how it doesn't say anything about people who are pro-abortion. It contains A) statistics, and B) a prayer. Take away the prayer, and it is literally every other mailer that ever gets sent out on any political campaign in the history of ever. As a matter of fact, it's really pretty tame by anyone's standards.
But the big story here is this...notice how other Catholics aren't launching personal attacks at the employee or cluttering Facebook with ridiculous "look how stupid I am" memes? Notice how there isn't any national demand for justice?
Unlike the gay couple who demanded pizza from that one specific pizzeria for their wedding, or that gay couple who demanded a cake from that one specific bakery, or that gay couple who demanded their wedding be hosted at that one specific Bed and Breakfast, in the face of legitimate persecution...
... These Catholics are just taking their business elsewhere.
There's a novel idea.
