Remember when Democrats trotted out a few illegal immigrants onstage at the DNC? They picked a cute little girl to win over the bleeding hearts of their paid audience (see #DNC: Mother, Daughter Get Standing Ovation... For Being Illegal Immigrants). But what about the other illegal immigrants? You know, the ones who aren't cute or 10 years old. I get the feeling those guys were never in the running to be the illegal mascot. Probably because a lot of them are like this chap...

Thong Vang faces two counts of attempted murder along with other charges in Saturday's shooting. Vang was one of more than a dozen men arrested in connection with the abduction [and] rape of three teenage Clovis girls in 1998. He was sentenced to 19 years in prison and served 16 years and was released two years ago.

In addition to the attempted murder charges, Vang is charged with being a felon in possession of a handgun and attempting to smuggle drugs into a jail. He also has a parole violation hold, and a hold from the immigration and naturalization service.

The officers he's charged with wounding are still hospitalized, listed in critical condition with gunshot wounds to the head and neck.

I know what you're thinking. "Thong"? Yeah, it's an unfortunate name. Try to be sensitive to the cultural differences at hand here, you xenophobe.

Illegal. Newly released from prison. For rape.

This guy is a testament to the big pile of suck that is our immigration system. He kidnapped and raped a bunch of girls. Our officials' response? Toss the lad in jail for twenty years. He'll come out a new man. Then he did come out of prison. With guns blazing.

The Asian-ness is mere coincidence. DEFINITELY NOT RACISM.

ICE had almost twenty years to do something about Thong. Instead, what did they opt for? Diddly squat. Aaand here we are again. Two cops shot by a sod who shouldn't even be here in the first place. This is why people are sick and tired of wimpy immigration laws... Because guys like this weasel their way into the States and crime it up. Meanwhile those hardworking immigrants who actually want to contribute to America? They have to fight tooth and nail as they work through a flawed system for citizenship. But hey, at least illegal immigrants are getting free college. Priorities.
