Open Mouth, Insert Foot: Sen. Tim Kaine Says "America Created Slavery"
It could be worse. You could be Tim Kaine whose knowledge of history is on par with a pet rock. On the floor of the Senate, Hillary Clinton's former running mate actually said that "America created slavery." Sure, I am taking it out of context. But even with the full context, yikes.
Sen. Tim Kaine: "The United States didn't inherit slavery from anybody. We created it." https://t.co/VM86sRrtn1— The Hill (@The Hill) 1592328660.0
Here's what's weird. Timmy tells the story of two African slaves who came to the colonies as slaves. But the colonies they apparently came to didn't have slavery. Then Tim says America didn't inherit slavery. We created it.
Congratulations, Egypt. The aliens really did built the pyramids.
I'm the first to admit I'm not a history buff nor a mathmatical wizard. But I do know words. "Create" means to bring something into existence. An artist creates art. Sexual reproduction creates new life. So if Tim Kaine says America didn't inherit slavery, we created it, one of three things is going on:
- Tim Kaine actually believes America created slavery, as in brought slavery into existence. Despite slavery being in existence for thousands of years prior to even the discovery of America.
- Tim Kaine believes the people who'll hear his spiel will believe what he says and think America created slavery.
- Tim Kaine is a dumb, doesn't know that America didn't create slavery, and doesn't know what the word "create" means.
But Tim says "we created it" at least three times. Then says we eventually stopped slavery, but didn't do anything to undo slavery as some kind of way to make up for racism?
There might be a possible fourth option: Tim Kaine is pandering hard to the Black American community, or more likely, the white liberal community that thinks it knows better than the Black American community.
Either way, someone on Kaine's staff might want to hand the senator a pocket dictionary. While removing his foot from his face hole.
