People normally look to New York and California as the strongholds for American "progressivism." But, don't count out Oregon. The buttholes running the Beaver State are making great strides in forcing leftism on their citizens (see Of Course. Oregon Passes Bill Making Abortions Free Of Charge… and FINALLY! Oregon to Allow Third Gender Option on Drivers Licenses). Their latest? A gun control bill that would strip a person of their gun rights on hearsay alone. Yes, really.

The Oregon legislature just passed a gun control measure that substantially weakens constitutional rights. Senate Bill 719 will allow a family member or a police officer to obtain a civil court order immediately stripping someone of the right to possess a firearm for up to a year, if a judge finds the person presents a danger to himself or others.

Paul Phillips, president of the group Oregon Gun Owners, retorts that the bill does little to prevent suicides but does deprive gun owners of basic constitutional protections. Gun confiscations under SB 719 will be "based on hearsay evidence alone, and the firearm owner is not privy to a fair trial," he says.

According to the bill, any law enforcement officer and family member—including partners, siblings, or even roommates—can request a hearing with a judge to get a "extreme risk protection order." If issued, this would prohibit a person from possessing or purchasing a firearm.

Yeah, I'm sure there's absolutely no way the left would abuse such a law.

This is in the same vein as the "no-fly list gun ban" leftists we're trying to pass last year. Nothing more than a backdoor way for the left to strip law-abiding citizens of their guns. While allowing the people being banned zero chance of making a case for themselves. You know, there's a thing called due process, Oregonian lawmakers. Ever heard of it?

There may be psychos out there who have no business packing a piece. But, with a half-assed bill like this one, lots of innocent people could get caught in the crossfire. Literally. We've seen how important the 2nd amendment is with protecting the good guys from criminal dickweeds. This bill could leave a lot of those good guys defenseless.

This bill, and the many "common sense reforms" that get passed, are just tiny baby steps toward voiding the 2nd amendment entirely. While these laws may seem like no big deal on the surface, when added up, they go a long way toward barring you from the keeping and the bearing of the arms. Make no mistake, there's nothing sensical about them.
