Paging #BlackLivesMatter: Chicago's Record Crime Hits 20 Year High!
Patterns play an important role in the news. Especially when it comes to news cycles. One day media covers transgenders' plight of which potty to pee in. Then eviscerate the hateful bigots who hold fast to biology. The next day the media puts the lewdest contortionists to shame as it twists to avoid saying "Islam" and "terrorism" in the same sentence. Today media, and celebrities who lost their once prized ability to throw a ball, insist black Americans are oppressed -- and killed -- by police officers at high rates. Then ignore black Americans slaughtered in the streets.
Black-on-black crime
Chicago is on track to meet a record high in homicides this month. You probably haven't heard about it. The pattern of violence in Chicago doesn't fit with the "Black Lives Matter" narrative. To BLM, black lives only matter if they're harmed by police. Harmed by other black Americans in gang-related violence? Nothing to see here, racist.
There have been at least 78 homicides, marking August as the most violent month in the city in almost 20 years, according to data provided by the Chicago Police Department. The city hasn't seen a deadlier month since October of 1997, when there were 79 homicides. For the whole year, the count was 761, according to department numbers.
Chicago has recorded 487 homicides and more than 2,800 people shot so far this year, compared to 491 homicides and 2,988 people shot all of last year, according to Tribune data.
Chicago has a lower homicide rate than many other U.S. cities smaller in population. This year, the city recorded more homicides and shooting victims than New York City and Los Angeles combined. The two cities are larger than Chicago's population of roughly 2.6 million.
Here's a handy chart from ABC News, bearing in mind it isn't including the deadly month of August.
Paging anti-gun lobbies...
Yikes. How do we know the majority of those deaths are of black Americans? Numbers. Statistics. The black-on-black crime in Chicago is high. Tragically high.
Black Lives Matter isn't the only leftist subgroup that's ignored Chicago. The anti-gun lobby, worried about the mythical "gun show loophole," also turned a blind eye.
Chicago police officials have cited the constant flow of illegal firearms through dangerous neighborhoods and an intractable gang problem – with some disputes beginning on social media platforms like Facebook and Twitter – as strong contributors to the city's violence. In recent months, police Superintendent Eddie Johnson has been pushing lawmakers in Springfield to pass legislation requiring harsher sentences for criminals arrested repeatedly for carrying illegal guns.
I'm using this gif for purely sexist reasons.
Black men kill other black men at high rates. They use illegal guns to do so. Yet the media, the left, Black Lives Matter, and anti-gun lobbies set their sights on white cops. The leftist media blames random acts of mass shootings or gun violence on the NRA, its membership, or the gun itself. While ignoring the flagrant abuse of gun laws already in place in Chicago.
You cannot claim the caring mantle and ignore Chicago. It's irresponsible to proclaim "black lives matter" when someone like Korryn Gaines is shot by cops, but ignore the deadly violence in Chicago.
Many of the cases Black Lives Matter touts? They're built on false premises. Get the facts:
