Pakistan is attempting to draft a "women's protection bill." Yes, Pakistan. As in the country that still vehemently stands behind marrying off 6-year-olds. You'd think that something titled "women's protection" would be good for women, right? Sounds like a step in the right direction. Possibly even a win for human rights advocates everywhere. Good for Pakistan, finally catching up to the civilized world.

Just kidding. We're talking about Pakistan, after all. One of the proudest woman-hating countries in the entire history of ever. Take a look at some of the bill's highlights:

"A husband should be allowed to lightly beat his wife if she defies his commands and refuses to dress up as per his desires; turns down demand of intercourse without any religious excuse or does not take bath after intercourse or menstrual periods," Pakistan's Express-Tribune reports, citing the proposal.

The 163-point draft bill reportedly bans women from appearing in television or print advertising and female nurses from treating male patients. It would also allow husbands to forbid their wives from visiting other men except relatives.

Sucks to be a Muslim Christian any woman in Pakistan right now. The bill protects their right... to be raped. You know your culture is bad when a slight variation in spousal abuse is considered "progress."

Calling all feminists: Pakistan could use some outrage right now. To be fair, there are some Pakistani media platforms who think this is ridiculous. Because #NotAllMuslims are evil, wife-beating cretins. The ones who aren't have a short shelf life. They usually get chopped to bits... By other Muslims.
