Yesterday, Pat McAfee announced that this past Tuesday was the last appearance of Aaron Rodgers on the show for the NFL season. Keywords: "for the NFL season." He also addressed his appreciation that maybe the drama would be behind them and he could go back to talking about football. But the media claimed Rodgers was removed for political reasons and some on the right blasted McAfee for removing Rodgers for political reasons. The podcaster had to address the story again.

Here's the Wednesday announcement. McAfee discussed how many people Rodgers pissed off and said he was happy the IT (meaning the social media drama) wouldn't be in his mentions anymore. IT, not he (meaning Rodgers), that some are allegeding.

Anonymous sources told the press that McAfee decided to end Rodgers' appearances himself. CNN's Oliver Darcy, who critics say looks like a possum that crawled out of the rear end of a dead cow, was told by "a person familiar with the matter" told CNN that the decision to end Rodgers’ appearances was due to his recent behavior and not the conclusion of the season.

Then people who should know better about trusting corporate media citing anymouse sources who have an agenda decided that McAfee sold out. One problem with that:

McAfee addressed the noobs talking wild about him and his show: "Our fans know that [Aaron Rodgers Tuesdays] ends shortly after Aaron’s team’s season ends.. that’s how it’s been. He’ll make random surprise welcomed pop-ins during big events or off-season adventures, but it’s always been a season thing. I never said he’ll never be on the show again. I hope he chooses to still chat with us. We’ve been lucky the last 4 years to ride the wave of a season with a 4X NFL MVP (2 of which during The ART Era) and get his thoughts along the way.. in real time."

A few things to note:

We know that the media has a clear agenda and people working at ESPN have a clear agenda. So when anonymous sources from ESPN talk to the media...

I cringed when McAfee did the "freedom of speech doesn't mean freedom of consequences" line. He's also not from our world. Would I prefer it if he knew better? Sure. But there is a world of difference between him repeating something he heard and Big Tech CEO making it their Community Guidelines.

Also, all of those times Aaron Rodgers spoke out against "the narrative" that we enjoyed so much over the past three years? 95% of them were from appearances on the Pat McAfee show.

I think we can give Pat a little grace for not responding to things the way we would expect a political candidate to.
