Watch: The Truth About Jordan Peterson, Joe Rogan, & The 'Woke Right'
Jordan Peterson appeared on Joe Rogan to discuss the “woke Right.” Today’s show breaks it down.
Jordan Peterson discussed the problem with people presenting opinions based on facts they know to be false. He added that the left struggles to set boundaries, and the right does slightly better, but also has its problems. For example, this would include psychopathic individuals exploiting parts of the conservative movement for personal gain, such as anti-Semitic rhetoric.
“It’s a problem—they exist on both the left and the right,” Crowder said.
However, to weed out frauds, there are three crucial things to consider.
Firstly, it’s transparency.
“Does this person gatekeep? Do they make their references publicly available?” Crowder said. “Do they make all of their information referenceable so you can consistently do your research, and do they encourage it?”
The second thing you can do is look for a track record.
“You ask how long they have been presenting this perspective with some level of consistency?” Crowder said.
It’s also important to look at the profit motive.
“Every person needs to make a living,” Crowder said. “But is [the] source beholden to a profit source or motive? Are they required to present [a specific] point?”
Another problem is clickbait.
“It allows dishonest actors to not only survive but to flourish,” Crowder said. “There is an incentive to feed the beast. That does not take into account honesty.”
According to Crowder, all points of view are permissible, but it's the method and the metrics. So while people can make mistakes, if they don’t correct them, that shows they don’t care if you look dumb repeating it later on.
“Do you think they are looking out for you, or do you think they are looking to profit off of you?” Crowder said. "It's important to be honest. It's important to be right.”
