If you look at any progressive-run city, it is hard to tell if that is America or part of the third world. This is because when progressives run anything, they create utter ruin. After all, it turns out that when you run things based on identity politics, things turn out very, very bad.

This has become painfully obvious. So for progressives to pretend they care, they pass little bills that they claim will prevent crime. We know it won't since the DA does not prosecute crime. So Philidelphian progressives are just doing what they do best, which is to signal virtue and pretend they are working on the issues.

The Philadelphia City Council voted 13-2 Thursday to pass legislation banning facial coverings in public in hopes of cutting down on the violent crime that continues to plague the Progressive-run city. This has angered radical leftists who claim the ban criminalizes "fashion popular with Black and brown youth" and amounts to prejudice against "people of color."

I have never seen ski masks be used as a fashion statement…..

The proposed amendment is as follows "No person shall, with the specific intent to intimidate or threaten another person, or with the specific intent to hide one's identity during the commission of unlawful activity, wear a mask, hood, ski mask, balaclava, or other device or means of hiding, concealing or covering any any portion of the face for the purpose of concealing their identity on public property or private property."

The bill was opposed by council members Kendra Brooks and Jamie Gauthier, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer.

"I can't in good conscience vote for something that I feel would further criminalize and marginalize young Black men in our city," said Gauthier, "particularly when I don't feel like, as a city, we've done enough to engage them, listen to them, and support them."

Oh geez. Here we go with the soft bigotry of low expectations and idiotic rhetoric that alleges that crime would cease to exist if criminals just had a warm blanket and a hug. Criminals are not going out looting with ski masks because no one is “listening” to their feelings. How can you be that stupid and still function in society?

Far-left Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner is one of those people who refuses to prosecute large categories of crimes. He too believes getting to the “root cause” will fix everything. Arguably, he has helped create this mess.

Brooks said, "My fear is that we're putting legislation on the books for a certain population that doesn't even realize that this is going to victimize them until it tarnishes the racial relationships between the police officers and young people."

The legislation does not mention race. These people are so racist. They are essentially claiming that only black people put on ski masks and loot. Not only that, they claim it is inevitable that they will put on a ski mask and rob stores.

Dumb and racist progressives think that black people are not up to par when it comes to intellectual reasoning and subsequently they deserve less expectation in life to “level” the playing field.

Philadelphia’s crime accounts for 48% of the violent crime in the state.

Are these people really going to focus on the “feelings” of criminals being hit with an extra fine when there are actual victims in the city living in fear for their safety and lives? What about their feelings?

The failure to prosecute cases and ignore laws is the true “root cause” of the issue.
