Being a cop in New York City is a glamorous job. Crime is on the rise. Elected officials will throw you under the bus for a ham sandwich. And on special days, thugs will creep up on you and smash you over the head with a glass bottle. That's the incident that happened in Brooklyn, captured on the officer's body cam.

Thankfully, the officer only needed stitches and staples to close the wound. But will be okay otherwise. You can still add it to the list:

The thug in question according to ABC 7, was promptly arrested and charged with "assault, menacing, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and criminal possession of a weapon." Funny thing about this guy who -- shocker of all shockers -- had priors. Among them was assaulting police officers on TWO different occasions. This officer was him going for the hat trick.

I'm not so sure how much he planned this out though. Just saying, if I was going to commit a crime and assault someone, I wouldn't be wearing a bright, rainbow-colored t-shirt. It makes you stand out. Unless you're a dumbass who wanted to stand out.

Also, thank goodness for body cams. Remember, this is New York City. If the thug tripped and fell while being chased, he can claim the cop attacked him. New York City politicians and the press would have sided with the thug like they always do. My only disappointment is a lack of sound. Our thug friend probably cried when he got caught.
