Once again, not all heroes wear capes.
An elderly man was rescued by his pooch who went above and beyond to rescue his owner after he fell into freezing ice water.

“A man was rescued after falling through an icy lake thanks to the actions of a quick-thinking officer and his own dog.
According to the Michigan State Police, the 65-year-old man had fallen through the ice while walking his dog, Ruby, in Arbutus Lake Thursday morning. Bystanders who saw the incident called 911.
Michigan State Police Motor Carrier Officer Kammeron Bennetts arrived at the scene and took control of the situation, grabbing the rescue disc from the back of his patrol vehicle and locating the man out on the ice and Ruby, who was dutifully by his side. Only the man’s head and shoulders were above the ice.
Bennetts first tried to throw the rescue disc to the man but was unsuccessful. That is when he asked the man to send Ruby over.
Ruby then ran over to complete the rescue.
Bennetts called Ruby’s name and whistled for her to come and she came running right over with her tail wagging. Bennetts then attached the rescue disc to her collar and asked the man to call her back. Ruby successfully brought the rescue disc back to her owner.
Once he had the disc, Bennetts advised the man to start kicking his legs and Bennetts, along with an assisting firefighter, was able to pull the man to safety, with Ruby still by his side.”
Just look how proud she must have been to play a significant and crucial part in the rescue of her best friend. That is just too precious.
Here is the pup dragging the victim towards the officer to safety.
This is all so heartwarming.
The officer could not go towards the victim because of the ice conditions and the risk of him also falling into the water.
The victim was there for about 16 minutes. He was sent to the hospital but later released so it is safe to assume he spent the night with his paws-ome friend.
The officer's quick thinking and the obedient and very smart dog did wonders here. Let’s hope everyone involved in this video enjoyed a nice big steak that evening.
