Why does it always seem like sanctuary states are always correlated with a high crime rate? That is unclear but according to officials in Seattle and Portland, this makes Americans more safe.

Seattle and Portland filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration over funding being held against sanctuary cities.

According to The Post Millennial:

The cities of Seattle and Portland joined a lawsuit against the Trump administration over Trump's executive order targeting sanctuary cities that harbor illegal immigrants and impede federal immigration enforcement operations. The lawsuit claims that sanctuary policies have made "communities safer" and that the federal government does not have the authority to dictate how local law enforcement and jurisdictions conduct immigration-related matters.

I am no legal expert but I am having trouble finding the exception in federal immigration law that it makes it so this is voluntary.

The lawsuit was initially filed on February 7 in the United States District Court for the Northern District of California. The case is spearheaded by the city of San Francisco and Santa Clara County, with other Democratic-run sanctuary cities across the country recently joining the action, including Seattle, Washington, and Portland, Oregon.

Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison announced the lawsuit on Monday, saying the Trump administration's threats to withhold federal funding to cities with sanctuary laws was an example of "federal overreach."

In other words, Seattle believes it’s “federal overreach” when the federal government enforces federal laws. You cannot make that level of absurdity up.

According to Neighborhood Scout, Seattle and Portland are both “safer than 1% of U.S. cities.” So it’s unclear how harboring illegals makes residents safer but the facts speak for themselves.

The lawsuit claims that President Donald Trump, aided by co-defendants Attorney General Pam Bondi, Deputy Attorney General Emil Bove, and DHS Secretary Kristi Noem, are seeking to "punish those who disagree" with the administration's immigration policies, "coerce local authorities" and "commandeer them into carrying out" the president's agenda. The Trump administration has also vowed to prosecute officials who do not comply with the executive order. The plaintiffs charge that the EOs violate the Tenth Amendment, Separation of Powers, the Spending Clause, and the Due Process Clause.

These people cannot even be bothered to pretend to do their job and it’s crap like this that makes them the laughingstock of the country. The American people have proved time and time again how much they despise illegal immigration and the fact that they try to gaslight voters into thinking this is the “safer” thing to do proves how mentally incompetent they all are.

You cannot have a safe city when you do not even know who lives there or what crimes they have been found guilty of. The fact that officials would do everything in their power to protect foreign nationals at the expense of American citizens is not something that should ever be condoned.

If they refuse to enforce federal immigration laws then there is no reason they should be rewarded for this. Their cities are a mess and the last thing they should be doing is turning a blind eye to the destruction they cause.
