At a time when it's more dangerous than ever for police to do their jobs, President Obama wants to disarm them.

As per AP:

In previewing the president's trip, the White House said that effective immediately, the federal government will no longer fund or provide armored vehicles that run on a tracked system instead of wheels, weaponized aircraft or vehicles, firearms or ammunition of .50-caliber or higher, grenade launchers, bayonets or camouflage uniforms. The federal government also is exploring ways to recall prohibited equipment already distributed.

Yes, the over-militarization of our police is an issue that both sides can and should agree on.  Here's the rub though...our bitterly partisan President is only doing this to pander!  We at LwC are setting the over/under of straw men set on fire during his speech at a modest 7.

None of that has to do with the biggest problem. On the heels of violence in Waco, Baltimore and Ferguson, NOW is not the time to make it harder for police to do their jobs and try to keep the peace.  President Obama doesn't realize this. Or perhaps (and most likely) he realizes it and doesn't care because he's never seen an opportunity for a political attack he didn't both love and take.
