A new poll is out that says a vast majority of Americans believe children should not be allowed to "choose their own pronouns." That is where kids who are born one gender but think they are another gender demand being called by the "pronouns" of the gender they choose.

A new Harvard-Harris poll discovered that 59% of Americans believe kids should be called by the pronoun that matches how they were born. 60% say encouraging pronoun choice is an “excessive measure that does more to confuse kids about their sex.”

Conversely, 41% think it's totally fine for kids to choose their own gender. 40% say calling kids by their chosen pronouns prevents "discrimination."

The controversy over pronouns has grown in 2022. News outlets are editing quotes to make sure rapists aren't misgendered with the wrong pronouns. But those are at least adults. Where it gets really controversial is in schools, where some teachers will brag about ignoring parents' wishes to call their children by their birth pronouns.

In Texas, teachers were encouraged to call child protective services on parents who did not call their children by their children's preferred pronouns. In Wisconsin, a school is accusing a thirteen-year-old boy of sexual harassment because he called a classmate by the "wrong" pronoun. Related, the Harvard-Harris poll shows 73% of respondents believe it should not be “classified as illegal discrimination if you fail to use someone’s selected pronouns."

Democrats are the only political ideology that feels you should be required to call kids by whatever pronoun they demand. A majority of Republicans and Independents agree.
