'Pussycat Dolls' Singer Speaks Out Against Abortion: "Keep your babies..."
Glimpses of sanity in Hollywood makes for rare sightings these days. When an actor - or actress, you sexist - comes out against liberalism in any way, shape, or tweet, they tend to be promptly squashed (see Actor Kit Harington: "Actually, Men Experience Sexism Too..." Feminists RAGE).
But fear of being hulk smashed by leftist "tolerance" didn't stop Pussycat Dolls singer and actress Nicole Scherzinger from piping up about her values. Turns out she's not a fan of abortion...
Singer and 'Moana' voice Nicole Scherzinger stars as Penny Johnson in ABC's upcoming 'Dirty Dancing' remake. But the 38-year-old nearly refused the role - because of her stance against abortion."So I got the role and I almost didn't take it because I didn't want to promote abortion," she added, "because my character has an abortion."
"[I] decided that maybe I could be a voice," she said, "that I could shed some light on the subject without being preachy... Hopefully they can learn from [my character's] ways and I can be a positive influence."
Apparently much of Nicole's abortion stance is based off her own firsthand experiences. Later in the interview she explains how she almost got Planned Parenthooded herself.
Scherzinger revealed the reasoning behind her pro-life views: she could have been aborted. "My mum got pregnant with me when she was 17 and had me when she was 18," [she] admitted. "She chose. So I just want to encourage everybody to keep your babies."
In your moonlike, pancaked faces, feminists.
This is a major contrast from, say, people like Lena Dunham. In terms of appearances, one is considerably more pit-haired and gross. But more importantly, there's a huge difference in ideas. Hollywood pushes a false narrative that pregnancies are simply inconveniences easily solved by abortions. Convenience is prioritized over preserving life. So while the majority of celebrities busy themselves by spearheading #ShoutYourAbortion campaigns (read Dear Liberal Women: No, Getting An Abortion is Not 'Brave'...), it's refreshing to see someone dare pipe up against the baby butchery that land whales like Dunham promote as cool. Because no, killing babies is never cool. Hashtag or no hashtag.
As to Scherzinger taking on the role even though her character gets an abortion, I have some thoughts: portraying something which happens in reality doesn't mean one supports it. Just as if Nicole were to take on a role where she plays an adulteress, a murderer, or a hipster wearing skinny jeans. Portraying an action in a movie isn't giving that action a pass. Scherzinger used her role, her character's action, to promote her pro-life message. I say that's a win. Even if her character is a bit of a harlot baby-killer. Scherzinger isn't. Hipsters, please burn your skinny jeans.
Speaking of Hollywood myths...
