You may recall the story of an Airbnb host who canceled on a guest because she was Asian. Or that's how it was reported. Liberal media was quick to hop on the story and join the cryfest. But it turned out there was more to the story than what was being shown (see Woman Who Claimed Airbnb Host Canceled Reservation Because Racism? She's a Social Justice Activist...). Surprise, surprise. None of those extra details matter now, though, because that host? She's being punished by the government.

An Airbnb host who was kicked off the platform earlier this year after she canceled on a guest for being Asian has been ordered to pay $5,000 in damages and take a college-level course in Asian American studies.

California's Department of Fair Employment and Housing announced the resolution Thursday. The former host, identified as Tami Barker, also issued a personal apology to her would-be guest, Dyne Suh, and will participate in a community education panel and do volunteer work at a civil rights organization.

Yes, this Airbnb host may be an ultimate bag of douche. But if she were truly canceling the stay because she's racist, why would she have allowed the booking in the first place? Methinks more details were conveniently left out. According to the messages, the host canceled on the guest for breaking their agreement. Then she insulted her for being Asian afterward. Slight difference.

Regardless of whether or not this lady truly hates Asians, the free market should be left to deal with these situations, not the government. Firstly, Airbnb wasted no time in banning her from using their services. But even if she still remained active through Airbnb, her reputation has now been ruined. See, it's not in a business owner's best interest to be bigoted or racist because it limits one's potential clientele. Most people won't want to do business with someone who has negative reviews. Tis the beauty of capitalism. But the left has a hard time grasping this concept. Thinking is hard. Instead, social justice crapgoblins demanded this woman be reprimanded, so the state intervened and force her to pay money. For. Saying. Mean. Words.

The problem here? The state shouldn't even have such power in the first place. Alas, the left doesn't mind subverting freedom for their twisted version of "justice." Bigots beware!
