"The Office" actor blasts Hollywood's anti-Christian bias ... at least for now
Hollywood having a bias against Christians isn't news. Christians tend to have opposing political opinions than Hollywood. Hollywood hates and loathes anyone who disagrees with whatever their opinion is that week. It's only shocking when an actor without the last name Cameron speaks out against it. That's what makes Rainn Wilson's milquetoast tweet noteworthy,
Wilson was watching HBO's The Last of Us and noted, "I do think there is an anti-Christian bias in Hollywood. As soon as the David character in “The Last of Us” started reading from the Bible I knew that he was going to be a horrific villain. Could there be a Bible-reading preacher on a show who is actually loving and kind?"

Could there be? Of course. Will there be? Not anymore. The Bible-reading preacher character may have, at some point in his backstory, held a traditional Christian belief. Even acknowledging traditional Christian beliefs exist let alone doing so without adding the word "sucks" is cause for Twitter hate. And Twitter hate by randos is a driving factor in art. It's why you can't, quote, "make The Office today" even though it was the most streamed show during the pandemic.
Wilson's acknowledgment that having anti-Christian bias might be a bad thing brought out the Twitter haters.
There’s plenty of kind Christian characters. You’re just picking one out. Anyway wah. Look what the religious right is doing to people in this country today. People should definitely be scared of fanatics who run religious colonies.

oh no! my religion with complete cultural hegemony for centuries, one that is overwhelmingly portrayed positively in media —so normalized as to just be background noise in most of it— is also occasionally used as a villain trope 🥺
when will this persecution of christians end??

Christians have used their religion to take away women’s autonomy. They are fighting to dismantle libraries and stop healthcare for trans people. They invoke their god while they do it, but you’d like us to feature a kindly preacher in a tv series. To what end? This feels very… https://t.co/Kk0krhFoD0

The question is if Wilson will do anything about it and stand by his comments. Or will he be "forced" into apologizing for a rather milquetoast comment that goes against the progressive narrative? He was quick to beg for forgiveness and say he was going to take time to "educate" himself over a chestfeeding crack. As of this writing, he has yet to be bullied into another apology.
He should look to the heroism of fellow actor Zachary Levi. Levi made milquetoast criticisms of Ukraine and Biden's favorite Big Pharma company, but he stood by them after the Twitter hate came.
