Rape Survivor Calls Out Obama on Gun Control
We've had a few stories about women being able to defend themselves because they had a firearm (see WATCH: 65 year Old Gun-Toting Grandma Shoots at Armed Robbers and #YesAllWomen! Young Mom Protects her Baby From Intruders with Gun), so it's not shocking that a rape survivor has an opposing viewpoint than the President has on guns.
It's just surprising that her question wasn't weeded out for one that was more leftist talking point friendly...
“As a survivor of rape and now a mother to two small children, you know it seems like being able to purchase a firearm of my choosing and being able to carry that where me and my family are — it seems like my basic responsibility as a parent at this point,” Corban told Obama. “I have been unspeakably victimized once already and I refuse to let that happen again to myself or my kids.”“So why can’t your administration see that these restrictions that you’re putting to make it harder for me to own a gun or harder for me to take that where I need to be is actually just making my kids and I less safe?” she asked.
The President then claimed that his Executive Orders wouldn't prevent her from getting a gun and then went into his all but predictable leftist talking points. Background checks (which already exist and are necessary), gun show loophole (which doesn't exist) blahblahblah. What's important to note is that the rub here isn't his executive actions. The rub here is his entire ideology and attitude towards guns.
I mean, he claims it's a conspiracy that he wants to take guns away, but praises Australia's gun laws. Well, guess what they did in Australia? On that's right, a "mandatory buyback" program, which is all but a ban on personal firearms. What where the results? Listen, we've written about it extensively here, but since many of you can't be bothered clicking, here's a snippet.
Some places have the homicide rate increasing at 3.2% along with armed robbery at 44%, while some other stats have them remaining about the same. At the very least, we do know that the policies have not significantly decreased crime. That’s not even being debated. Which…considering that the Australian government spent a considerable amount of money on the laws, seems at the very least, disappointing.Something else to note:
Since the gun ban, Australia has issued 37,000 gun licenses in the past five years, a jump from 177,675 to 215,462. In New South Wales (NSW), gun ownership has gone up 10%.
...There did not appear to have been an increase in gun related crime that related to the increase in licenses. ...Got that? Gun ban in 1996. The government flat out confiscated weapons. It was mandatory. A gun grab. Now more people than ever have guns. Gun crime has not gone up.
Could it possibly be any clearer?
- Barack Obama praises Australia's all out gun ban.
- Barack Obama himself says he wants to "curb the sales of semi-autos" which effectively includes all handguns.
- Barack Obama even lies to this woman's face about gun control, and the policies he's implementing. Watch the video.
See, Believing that Obama's executive actions are a slippery slope toward an all-out gun ban does not require a conspiracy. It requires only the reading of history and listening to his words. It requires only the truth..
