REAL RAPE CULTURE: Egypt Proposes 'Virginity Tests' for Female College Students
In today's news, Egypt still hates women. A lot. We've heard of silly college requirements - like race or gayness. It may seem like in America, the more "under privileged" you are, the higher your chance of colleging it up. But in Egypt? There's a special requirement for women. Passing a doctor's test which proves you're a virgin...
Egyptian member of parliament Elhamy Agina continued his recent string of controversial statements, this time calling for all women to undergo mandatory 'virginity tests' to ensure their virginity prior to being admitted to universities in Egypt."Any girl who enters university, we have to check her medical examination to prove that she is a Miss. Therefore, each girl must present official document upon being admitted to university stating she's a Miss," said Agina, with 'Miss' being a censored way to refer to the woman as a virgin. "No one should be upset by this decision," said Agina in the interview.
Agina was previously [stated] women must undergo female genital mutilation.
Firstly, I have suspicions that this guy's real name is VAgina. The 'V' is silent, like his 72 child brides. Yeah, I went there. The dude sounds like he's the worst. Which may be why he's an Egyptian politician. Being awful seems like a requirement when it comes to Egypt's law-makers (see Egypt Strips Citizenship for Marrying Jews)...
It appears the men don't have to be virgins. Is this what they call "sexism?" Methinks yes. Real sexism. Happening in 2016. Complete with a stamp of approval from Egyptian politicians. Take notes, feminists. Most of us non-woman-haters can agree this is wrong, regardless of what you believe about virginity (see Waiting Till the Wedding Night - Getting Married the Right Way).
See, westerners tend to think of virginity as a choice. When a woman wants to do away with her virginity, she can. And it's never been used as a barometer for which to enter college. But in the Middle East... Women making choices for themselves?
If you keep up with the news, you've probably noticed a trend with sexism... That is, Middle Eastern countries practice it the most. In between prayer time, of course. By the way, all of these Middle Eastern countries? They have something in common. Terrible climates. But also more importantly, Islam.
We've talked about Islam's rape culture before. This is just further proof...
