Remembering Robin Williams: His Performance as the American Flag
One year ago today, Robin Williams tragically passed. His comedic genius remains unparalleled, and is unlikely to be matched anytime soon.
From Mrs. Doubtfire to Aladdin to Good Morning, Vietnam, Robin Williams is a legend. Today, we pray with his family and friends, and remember his brilliance with this, his performance as the American flag.
Yeah, it's funny. But unlike most comedians, it's not only funny. It's also powerful, moving, and will leave you proud to be an American.
"People say flag, how do you stay so young? Is it tennis? No! It's waving! Richard Simmons, eat your heart out.
"They fired missiles and muskets at me, but come the dawn's early light, I'm still there.
"I haven't gotten out much lately... don't look at it as saluting me, look at it as saluting yourselves. I'm just a flag - you're the people! And if I may say so from here, long may you wave."
Robin Williams was taken from us before his time. Depression is an awful thing. If you or someone you love is struggling with depression, don't wait. Call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline to speak with someone today: 1 (800) 273-8255.
RIP Robin Williams. We miss you.
