Obama may be out of the White House but the consequence of his presence still lingers. Like flatulence wafting from under the bathroom door. Too late, it can't be stopped. The damage has been done. Now you must suffer. Such, too, was the fate of immigration officials who were forced to abide by the Obama administration's ways during his presidency. A recent report reveals they were stopped from doing their jobs.

This damning new information comes from ICE itself:

U.S. immigration officials revealed they face a deportation backlog of 550,000 illegal immigrants given temporary amnesty by former President Obama.

The sheer numbers -- bigger than the populations of Atlanta or Sacramento -- is overwhelming the agency's enforcement and removal department.

Matthew T. Albence, executive associate director for enforcement and removal operations [said]: "Ballpark is going to be around 550,000 [outstanding deportation orders] ... For a large part of the last four or five years we've been unable to take enforcement action against those individuals."

We already knew Obama liked fence-jumping aliens (see 1,800 Illegals to be Deported. Obama Admin Grants Citizenship Instead...). But these numbers give perspective into just how far the left's obsession with protecting illegals goes. And it only gets worse. According to Albence, the Obama administration started handing out amnesty like candy starting in 2014.

"Our officers had to turn their heads and walk the other way. So that's a large part of the problem, the fact that we couldn't enforce the law," he said.

Liberal judges also forgave or protected illegals, even ... several Iraqi's in the Detroit area, some sought for murder, according to ICE.

"We need to hold liberal judges accountable," said ICE Acting Director Thomas D. Homan.

He added, a third factor in the build up of deportation orders is because some 300 sanctuary cities refused to let ICE officers into city jails to seize illegals.

Thankfully, ICE is reporting an uptick in efficiency as of late. Now that we're rid of the border-hating fiend in chief, the department has been given more freedom to, you know, actually do their jobs. The nerve on them!

Of course, sanctuary cities are still a problem. No surprise there. Leftists won't give up their voting base so easily...
