Berkeley used to be a happenin' town if you were into speaking freely. But, oh how things have changed. What was once the epicenter for the free speech movement is now the epicenter for an army of butthurt PC leftists who get their panties in a bunch whenever they hear a differing opinion (see SCARED MUCH? Now they're having cows over a leftist atheist, of all people. All because Richard Dawkins, doesn't think highly of Islam.

In the latest Berkeley controversy over what speakers may talk about, the progressive radio station KPFA has canceled an Aug. 9 on-stage appearance by the scientist Richard Dawkins.

KPFA had invited the British scientist to discuss his newest book, Science in the Soul: Collected Writings of a Passionate Rationalist, which it termed “excellent.” But on Thursday the news organization canceled the event, citing concerns about the tone of some of Dawkins’ tweets about Muslims.

“We had booked this event based entirely on his excellent new book on science when we didn’t know he had offended and hurt – in his tweets and other comments on Islam, so many people,” KPFA said in an email sent to ticket buyers. “KPFA does not endorse hurtful speech. While KPFA emphatically supports serious free speech, we do not support abusive speech. We apologize for not having had broader knowledge of Dawkins views much earlier.”

Um. This is Richard Dawkins we're talking about. As in a guy who made his entire career on trash-talking all things theistic. He pretty much wrote the militant atheist bible. Having a bone to pick with Islam comes with the territory.

Dawkins is famous the world over for bashing religious fundamentalism. He claims religion is responsible for everything bad in the world. It's a given he would include a murder-cult that's stuck in the sixth century and wants to turn the planet into a third-world hellhole. Funny though how the goons at Berkeley aren't the least bit offended when Dawkins or his fellow atheists drops deuces on Christianity.

This is yet another contradiction from PC leftists on Islam. One minute they're putting their stretch marks and arm flaps on display in a slut-walk. The next, they're hyping up the hijab as a symbol of female empowerment. They whine about rampant homophobia, but simultaneously defend a religion that considers punting homos off rooftops a fulfilling pastime.

It might do the Berkeley crowd well to sit down and decide what they truly value. That is if they value anything in the first place. Consistency, guys. It's a thing.
