Finding an intellectually honest liberal, especially in the entertainment industry, is like finding an attractive feminist in a sea of blubber cows. Cherish the moments. There are a few honest liberals in tinseltown (see Celebrity Chef Anthony Bourdain Blasts Liberals’ Hatred of Middle America and Bill Maher: Liberals Banning Free Speech is Like Book Burning), and looks like Richard Dreyfuss is one of them.

Wherever he falls ideologically, he's still pro First Amendment...

"You were talking about the speakers on university campuses. And I am totally, incontrovertibly on your side about this. I think any intrusion into freedom of speech is an intrusion into freedom of speech. And when one of the presidents of one of the colleges said, 'this is a school, not a battlefield,' I said, no, it a battlefield of ideas and we must have dissonant, dissenting opinions on campuses and I think it's political correctness taken to a nightmarish point of view."

This is where we are. Thinking that no, people should not riot and assault others over someone whose opinion they disagree with, gets you one swift kick in the hindquarters out of progressive circles. Or maybe that's a progressive spectrum. Spectrums are so hot right now. This is how far the left protest-danced over the edge of reason. They're not just liberal, they're violently liberal, all the while claiming to be against fascism and "hate." Insulin shots are required before reading about any violent liberal protesting against hate, such is the level of rich irony.

Here's the silver lining: since the left has upped the crazy to Tess Holliday proportions, older generations of liberals (like Dreyfus) are coming out of the woodwork to lecture them about their diaper-soiling ways. Would you ever have thought a liberal would defend Ann Coulter? Me neither. But so far into the woo-hoo whinery has the left gone, it's no longer taboo to point out their insanity. In fact it might be the new thing to do.

Which is a perfect segue into Ted Nugent.
