Rockstar Dave Grohl Surprises Firefighters Battling the California Wildfires with BBQ
Brace yourself for a combination of good things: supporting our first responders, smoked meats, and rock and roll music. There are a number of ways you can support the brave men and women fighting the California wildfires. Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl held a barbecue for the people fighting the blaze. Because he's Dave Grohl. When you're Dave Grohl, you get to do Dave Grohl things.
Firefighters continue to tackle the blaze across the state, with people now stepping in to aid and assist the fire personnel as they work long hours – with Grohl playing his part by cooking BBQ for firefighters in Calabasas, Los Angeles County. Fire Station 88 were one of the recipients of the free BBQ last night (November 12), which was provided by Grohl’s recently launched Backbeat BBQ.“It was awesome to get a visit tonight from Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters,” the station wrote on Instagram. “Thanks Dave! [The BBQ] was excellent!”
Two things to love: one is the respect Grohl has for actual barbecue. Wood, fire, meat and time. He's not just barbecuing to plug the free pellet smoker that Traeger gives to "influencers." Who aren't real people in the first place. Seriously, if you refer to yourself as an "influencer" without irony, go punch yourself in the face.
But also, so much of the news is either Trumpity Trump Trump. Or the Blue Checkmark Brigade saying some dumb s***. Usually about Trump. Sometimes you want to take a break, read about a good guy doing good things for people. It's like the beer you drink as you're sitting in front of your stick burner. Waiting for a pork butt to get to temperature.
