Ron DeSantis had a prime opportunity to announce he was running for president today. He, of course, did not. The pesky Florida gubernatorial race is still going on for a few more months. DeSantis still needs to keep up appearances. But after new GOPer Elon Musk announced today he is leaning towards voting for DeSantis in 2024, it would have given America's Governor the opportunity to surprise us all.

DeSantis did not have an announcement for us today. But he did have jokes.

Quothe the Governor, "I'm focused on 2022. But with Elon Musk, what I would say is, 'I welcome support from African-Americans.'"

Get it? Because Elon Musk was born in Africa and is now an American citizen. That makes him an African-American in the truest sense of the word. I give DeSantis 8/10 for the zinger.

My only concern with DeSantis is that, while he is rock solid on policy and pugilism, he can sometimes come across as a little dry. Even though whenever he has loosened up a bit, he's shown a great sense of humor. And I wouldn't call it a major concern because, let's be honest, being more likable than Joe Biden or Kamala Harris isn't a high bar to catapult yourself over. This was the perfect way for America's Governor to respond to a question he knew he was getting today.

Now, he just needs to stand athwart the carnage of liberals' hopes and dreams the day after the red supernova strikes Election Day and say, "Biden, you're next!"
