America's Governor Ron DeSantis had a great week. He faced down the usual outrage mob and signed the "Parental Rights in Education Bill" into law. Critics who didn't read the bill or who lied about the bill knowing the media would swear by it called it the "Don't Say Gay" bill. Which is an odd name, because the bill doesn't say gay, unlike some bills Joe Biden supported. What the bill DID say was that there would be no more pushing the left's sexual agenda on kids in third grade or younger.

Why critics of the bill support teachers sexualizing five-year-olds, you'll have to ask them. YOU'LL have to ask. The media won't.

DeSantis took one last victory lap.

"And I tell you this. The chance that I am going to back down to my commitment to students and back down to my commitment to parents' rights simply because of fraudulent media narratives or pressure from woke corporations, the chances of that are zero."

This being a big deal is less about the contents of the bill as much as it is DeSantis having adamantium laced testicles. Because we've seen this game before. This bill could have been about common sense voter integrity reform, school choice reform, or even a progressive spending bill. Whether leftists support the legislation or oppose it, they'll lie about what's in it knowing they can count on an obedient media. They'll claim people will literally die literally. They'll accuse opponents of being -ists guilty of -isms and -phobias. They'll get celebrities to lie. They'll bully corporations into opposing it based on those lies. It works for the left more often than it should. It didn't work this time.

DeSantis has a huge reelection this year, in the most competitive state in the country where there's always political peril, and he didn't back down. The "Republican" governor of Utah was too chickenshit to fight for a school choice bill in the most Republican state in the country.

Ron DeSantis won't cave and run away like waaaaaay too many conservatives. He's proved it for the past two years. He proved it big time this week.
