Ever since progressives in California raised the minimum wage to $1 million an hour for fast-food employees, businesses have closed because, of course, no one can afford that. If they haven't closed down, they likely implemented AI and fired many employees. Subsequently, that $1 billion an hour they were promised actually turned into zero.
Mexican chain Rubio’s Coastal Grill announced it will close the remaining 48 locations in California.

Rubio’s Coastal Grill, the Carlsbad-based restaurant chain famous for its fish tacos, is shuttering 48 “underperforming” California locations in the latest blow to the state’s fast-food industry.
In a statement to KTLA, a Rubio’s spokesperson cited the “rising cost of doing business” and the “current business climate” in California as key factors.
California doesn't have a business climate, it has an anti-business climate. Anything officials implement makes everyone worse off, but they do it because people are naive and they don’t realize that a higher minimum wage isn’t always a good thing.
And the most annoying part is that liberals will lose their jobs, suffer through massive inflation because of the mandated wages, and then still vote these imbeciles in. But stupid politicians need naive voters, it’s almost as if it’s a symbiotic relationship. The former couldn't survive without the latter, and the latter is too stupid to vote in favor of their best interest.
The closures, which were announced on Friday, include 24 Rubio’s locations in the Los Angeles area, 13 in San Diego and 11 in Northern California. It’s unclear what the business community will look like in the state in 10-20 years, but it wouldn't be surprising if only the massive corporations were to survive. But only progressives can get ahold of one of the world's largest economies and give bankruptcy after bankruptcy after bankruptcy. And all that is on TOP of the businesses that close because officials refuse to prosecute theft. To say these people are incompetent would be an understatement at this point.
“Making the decision to close a store is never an easy one … While painful, the store closures are a necessary step in our strategic long-term plan to position Rubio’s for success for years to come,” the spokesperson said.
In April, California Assembly Bill 1228 took effect, boosting the minimum wage for fast-food workers from $16 to $20 an hour. Many restaurants have responded by raising menu prices and, in some cases, laying off workers.
