38-pound cat gets sent to fat camp after being stuck in shoe rack (thankfully, not in Springfield)

The average cat should weigh about 8-12 pounds. While a 38-pound cat does not sound like a lot, it’s logically equivalent to your average female weighing 600-850 pounds, being far past the point of a TLC show.
A rescue cat was found in the basement of a Russian hospital after mentally incompetent staff fed him a diet of canned soup and cookies. Although it sounds like Crumbs was living the dream, according to the Cat Size-O-Meter, this is very unhealthy. Subsequently, he was sent to a feline fat camp. However, Crumbs is more to handle than just weight, as he seems to give volunteers trouble and causes a “ruckus.”

According to the New York Post:
The feline, named Kroshik (Russian for “Crumbs”), was discovered by staff attempting to break out of the center in Perm, Russia, where he had been sentenced to a strict workout regimen and food rationing, Newsflash reported.
Photos show the corpulent cat — who weighs almost 38 pounds — wedged between the bars of the shoe shelf with his face stuffed in a bright blue Croc.
“Kroshik… he caused a ruckus and escaped today,” rehabilitation expert Ekaterina Bedakova wrote in a Sept. 11 Telegram post. “He was extremely displeased when we found him disguised as slippers, but… after a portion of food, he mellowed out.”
You may be worried that Crumbs is so miserable and that’s why he escaped, which is probably true but it’s a good thing because now the kitty can walk.
Staffers had reportedly fed the portly pet a diet of cookies and soup, which caused him to balloon up to a scale-shattering 37.47 pounds — so heavy he couldn’t even walk.
“Kroshik’s story is an extremely rare case when someone loved a cat so much that they fed him to such a state,” a spokesperson for the Matroskin Shelter in Prem explained.
I get that cat lovers want to give them all the treats they desire, but this is de facto animal abuse and not love. Even though he’s a very handsome cat, that’s a miserable state.
In an attempt to get Crumbs down to a normal weight, shelter employees put the mammoth feline on a pound-shedding pilgrimage that included a new diet and regular treadmill workouts.
For the latter exercise, they put the puss in a water tank to lessen the strain on his joints, as seen in photos of him reluctantly walking on the subermeged contraption.
Imagine something like this.

Except Crumbs is even bigger than that cat!
LOL. Awww. Poor kitty. He must be so stressed. Fortunately, the pain is temporary and he’s expected to lose 70-50 grams per week! And his trainers are paw-sitive he will live a healthy life.
