Watch: Of Course, RuPaul Uses His Emmy Speech To Defend Indoctrinating Kids With Drag Queens
If you could think of the top 1,000 people who you would go to for parenting advice, I highly doubt RuPaul would make that list. But he seems to disagree as he used his Emmy Acceptance Speech to defend drag queen storytime.
I know what you are thinking because I am thinking the same thing. I am also shocked that the Emmys are still on the air.
In other news, RuPaul is considered talented enough to win an Emmy. But I guess there is no better explanation for Hollywood than that.
“RuPaul urged people to 'listen to a drag queen' as he used his Emmy acceptance speech to defend performers reading in libraries.
The Drag Race host, 63, won the Emmy for Outstanding Competition Program at Monday's ceremony - which was held at the Peacock Theater, Los Angeles.
It is the sixth time RuPaul's Drag Race has won the accolade since 2018, and RuPaul used his speech to call out backlash towards drag story-time.
The drag supermodel declared: 'Listen, if a drag queen wants to read you a story at a library, listen to her because knowledge is power and if someone wants to restrict your access to power, they are trying to scare you.
'So listen to a drag queen, we love you, thank you.'”
No, I will not be listening to a drag queen. That is quite frankly the last thing I will be doing.
Also, there was a goblin that kept appearing on stage last night. At least that is what I heard.
It is unclear which one was the goblin.
It is a total joke that this man’s show is considered “ Outstanding Competition” but that is beside the point right now.
What sort of knowledge does a drag queen have that RuPaul thinks will give kids “power”? I would really love to see him try and elaborate on that one.
What is the benefit for a grown man dressed in drag to read stories to children? What does that do for society?
I have never seen RuPaul’s show but I am pretty sure it is not appropriate for children. When you compare that with something like Cocomelon, it is hard to see how someone can even pretend to justify how the two are even remotely comparable.
You can teach children to be kind to all people without disrupting their innocence. You don’t need a grown man in provocative attire to teach children to respect one another. We came this far without drag story hour and I think we can keep society going without it. And on top of that, this will confuse children who are already malleable.
Sorry, RuPaul. But one of the last things we will condone is drag queen story hour.
