Salon Goes Full Scumbag, Actually Blames Conservatives for Politicizing Charlie Gard
Salon is the same online entity which defended pedophilia. Now they're blaming conservatives for politicizing Charlie Gard's case. I don't usually start off posts like this, but it's Amanda Marcotte and Salon, so...
If you need to catch up on what's been happening with Charlie Gard: he's an English baby who the UK government has condemned to death, because trying to save him would cost the NHS too much money. According to the UK (and its judges), Charlie has an incurable condition, therefore he should be allowed to "die with dignity." His parents' wishes be damned. For more, read Charlie Gard’s Parents Give Up Battle for Treatment. UK Government Took Too Long and Single Payer: Judge Gives Charlie Gard’s Parents Two Days).
But the estimable Amanda Marcotte of Salon thinks the real tragedy is conservatives shedding light on the harsh truths of single-payer healthcare:
The sad story of Charlie Gard, a dying British baby who became a cause célèbre on the American right, seems to be coming to a close. Charlie’s parents, Chris Gard and Connie Yates, have agreed to let the boy, who has a painful and terminal case of mitochondrial DNA depletion syndrome, to be taken off life support.
No. The parents have not "agreed" to let the boy die, you slut. The parents fought the UK court systems to have the rights to THEIR OWN BABY and take him to the USA for treatment which might have saved him. Months ago. Here's Charlie's parents' statement:

Back to the Salon trash heap:
The story is sad enough by itself, but has been made exponentially worse by the right wing vultures in the United States who exploited this tragedy in order to push for legislation to strip health care away from millions of Americans — including disabled children.
WRONG. The American right has tried to save Charlie Gard while showing the rest of the nation the cold-hearted reality of a national healthcare system, where heartless leftists such as yourself think sentencing a child to death is the "compassionate" thing to do. When really, it's the "financially responsible" thing to do. Because when the state funds healthcare, the state gets to call the shots. Sarah Palin once referred to this system as "death panels."
How a dying baby in the UK became a propaganda object for opponents of universal health care in the U.S. is a complex story, but does a great deal to expose both the cynicism and sadism that infects American conservatism, even as they drape themselves in the “pro-life” label.
Time to reiterate my previous point:
Second and most importantly, what happened to Charlie Gard is single payer healthcare. He is the face of the cold, bureaucratic political system which inserts itself into the healthcare decision-making process, kicking the parents out of it. The left is upset because Charlie's parents simply had better public relations. But I'm positive he's not the first baby to be sentenced to death by the UK. This is single payer when leftists are being honest.
Canadians had a conversation amongst themselves many, many years ago and they asked a very simple question, which is ‘What do we want from our health care?’ “And they came to the answer that what we want is a system that covers everyone, and what that means is we’re willing to give up choice, we’re willing to give up the most high-tech solutions to various medical problems, we’re not going to have expensive, shiny hospitals.
See, there it is. National healthcare means "giving up choice" on who gets to decide who lives, who dies, who gets treatment, who's given a pain pill. It means "high tech solutions to various medical problems" are forgone so everyone gets "free" shitty healthcare.
Leftists in America lie. They claim single payer is wonderful. That you can keep your doctor, you can keep your plan. If you disagree you're a racist who hates women.
Then along came Charlie Gard, who exposed single payer's nasty reality on the world stage. Leftist demons tried to sweep him under the rug. They dismissed him as a number. They tried to shame anyone who stood up for him as "politicizing" the national healthcare system. Charlie Gard is what happens when a healthcare system is politicized. Who wants to see hundreds or thousands of cases like Charlie's in the United States? (Answer: the left)
Healthcare should be left to the people, not the state. Where individuals determine their own healthcare, not judges and death panels.
Charlie Gard is the tragic future of American healthcare if left wing vampires like Amanda Marcotte and Salon get their way.
