Sam Elliot Defends Weinstein's Victims, Offers Insight
Actor Sam Elliot is known for having the best mustache and voice in Hollywood. He also comes across as a badass in most of the roles he plays. Without even having to raise his voice. Anyone who has seen The Ranch on Netflix will agree with me, In Beau We Trust.
Elliot recently spoke out and called what happened with Harvey Weinstein "the best thing that’s happened to Hollywood in a long time."
“That’s not to say it’s not a two-way street for some. There’s a lot of girls who get into this game, and they’ll do anything to survive and thrive, but there’s also a bunch of innocents that come to town that are just f**king ground up by it.”
I thought this quote was interesting, especially with some criticism on the right about it becoming easy for anyone to tweet #MeToo without any proof. And so we're clear, I'm not implying that what's gone on in Hollywood for this long is anything less then disgusting. It crosses all genders, both in victims and perpetrators, and even conservative actors have spoken out on their experiences (see Hercules star Kevin Sorbo Says Gianni Versace Sexually Harassed Him and Rob Schneider Shares Disturbing Story of Sexual Harassment: ‘I felt disgusted…’).
But I thought Elliot's quote was a great way to at least acknowledge that it's a two-way street IN SOME INSTANCES. While keeping the focus on just how sleazy the industry has been to young actresses looking for their big break.
What a sleaze fest.
