There was a recent school shooting in Saskatchewan. Yes. In Canada, which is turning into even more of a socialist paradise. Someone tell Obama, he seems to think only America has mass shootings.

The gunman suspected of killing four people and injuring several others in Canada's worst school violence in a decade first shot his two brothers at home before opening fire at the remote community high school, a family friend and the town's acting mayor said on Friday.

Police said a suspect was arrested after the shooting in La Loche, Saskatchewan, an impoverished community about 600 km (375 miles) north of the city of Saskatoon.

The town's acting mayor, Kevin Janvier, told the Associated Press that his 23-year-old daughter Marie, a teacher, was shot to death.

He also said police told him that the gunman first shot two of his siblings at home and then made his way to the school.

Shocking, I know, because of how strict gun control is in Canada. Maybe the "gun free zone" sign wasn't written in French and the gunmen couldn't read it? Surely that would've stopped him, just based on how effective clearly-written gun-free zones signs have been in the past. Criminals, the most upstanding citizens of the lot, have the utmost respect for such signage.

Equally shocking...this same school where the shooting occurred had a stabbing incident in 2014. As in a student tried to stab a teacher with a knife. Knives play second fiddle to guns, mainly because Americans have the right to guns, so when someone tries to stab or even succeeds in stabbing people, leftist media tilt their collective heads and yawn. So what did the La Loche school do in response to the little stabber? If you guessed anything other than "put him back in the class, duh" you've just lost the game.

Here's what actually happened:

In 2014, a teacher expressed concern about violence at the La Loche school, noting that a student who had tried to stab her was put back in her classroom after serving his sentence, and another attacked her at her home.

"That student got 10 months," Janice Wilson told the CBC of the student who tried to stab her in class. "And when he was released he was returned to the school and was put in my classroom."

Wut? Welcome to the illogic of the left, where feelings matter more than your safety. The school's lax safety policy allowed this little buttmunch back into the same class where he tried to shank the teacher. Are we really surprised then, that a mass shooting would go down in this school? Not so much.

Before we go, let me direct you to a post about gun bans and how they're a failure in Canada. Here are three mass shootings that happened in my lifetime while in Canada, despite a gun ban:

The Montreal Massacre:  In 1989, Marc Lepine separated male from female students at the “École Polytechnique”, claiming that he was “fighting feminism” and shot twenty eight people before killing himself.  He specifically targeted women to execute.  Sickening. Fifteen were killed.

The Concordia Massacre: In 1992, Dr. Valery I. Fabrikant took three guns to Concordia university, opening fire on the ninth floor of the Henry F. Hall building. He shot five people, killing four.  Here’s the worst part… thanks to Canadian’s lenient laws toward criminals, Fabrikant will be up for parole in 2017. Wow.

Dawson College Shooting: This one hit very close to home for me. Why? Dawson was my second choice for college. I instead opted to attend Champlain college, a mere couple miles across the Saint Lawrence river.  I remember talking to some of best friends who were there, holed up in classrooms, hiding behind desks as the evil goth-kid went on his rampage. Kimveer Gill only managed to kill one person, though he injured 19 amidst his shooting spree.

All three occurred in “gun free” zones.
