Police in Scotland are so busy investigating "hate crimes," they don't have time for things like theft and assault

How's this for a backfire? Scotland Police are so busy investigating every accusation of a "hate" crime, that other crimes like theft, shoplifting, and assault are being ignored.
On April 1, the Hate Crime and Public Order (Scotland) Act 2021 went into effect. If you're found to be "stirring up hatred" relating to "age, disability, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity, or being intersex," the penalty can be up to seven years. You don’t even have to commit the act they claimed happened. There just needs to be a possibility that the act was committed, as they said the prosecution only needs to prove the suspect “likely” was hateful.
Every accusation of a hate crime will be investigated. Turns out, Scotland is lousy with snitches.
David Threadgold, chairman of the Scottish Police Federation (SPF), says Police Scotland's vow to investigate every report of hate crime has created a 'simply unmanageable' situation with around 8,000 filed in the first week.
Analysis of more than a decade of crime statistics has suggested fewer thefts, assaults and shoplifting cases are being 'solved' by officers - meaning that a perpetrator is identified and the case considered for prosecution.
Apparently, the law is being "weaponized" for political gain. And Scotland cops have not gotten proper training.
He was also critical of the two hours of training given to officers on the new legislation, which outlaws 'stirring up' hate against several protected characteristics such as age, disability, transgender identity and those who are intersex.
Some officers had not completed the video training ahead of the law coming into effect.
The bulk of the accusations appear to involve one of two people. One is JK Rowling. No surprises there. If you did a Venn diagram of people who think you should be arrested over words and people who won't calm down that Rowling thinks girls and girls and boys are boys, it would be a circle. The Harry Potter author is handling the news in the exact manner you would expect.
Lovely Scottish lass and convicted double rapist Isla Bryson found her true authentic female self shortly before she was due to be sentenced. Misgendering is hate, so respect Isla’s pronouns, please. Love the leggings! 2/11 pic.twitter.com/aKgOWRdb4K

But most women aren’t axe-toters or sex offenders, so let’s talk role models! Guilia Valentino (in red) wanted to play on the women's team 'because of sisterhood, validation and political visibility'. Naturally, she was given some boring cis girl’s place. Yay for inclusion! 6/11 pic.twitter.com/zl5i41RqBG

The other is First Minister Humza Yousaf, who championed support of Scotland's new hate crime law. He's managed to rack up more complaints than Rowling. And you may wonder how someone who supports hate crime laws would wind up being accused of so much hate.
As it turns out, he hates white people. And white people -- in Scotland -- take exception to that.
Scottish First Minister Humza Yousaf described @jk_rowling’s tweets as “offensive and upsetting.”
Scotland passed a “hate speech” bill and on the first day received over 4,000 complaints.
The majority of them were reportedly about Humza’s anti-white racist comments.

It's a great time to be a criminal in Scotland. Steal, assault, and shoplift to your heart's content. Just make sure that while you are stealing, assaulting, and shoplifting, you don't say anything mean about the person you are committing crimes against. Your words are weapons—worse than your weapons are weapons.
