Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best announced her resignation on Tuesday. BUT HER NEIGHBORS HAD GUNS...). When the city council throws you under the bus AND you have crazed activists showing up at your house, it's clear your public service is no longer appreciated.

Matthew Yglesias tweeted out an ironically unfortunate fact about the resignation. Or is it unfortunately ironic? Either way, it managed to expose the truth behind what drove a dedicated public servant from her job.

This has nothing to do with the African-American community and everything to do with white liberals pushing their leftist agenda and being dickheads about it. Defunding the police is a white thing, not a black thing. White leftist twats want to abolish the police completely. Black people want more police. They want better trained police and for police to have a better relationship with the community. We can throw statistics around and debate how to best go about that. But defunding them is a white liberal soggy dream. African-Americans are just being used as pawns, like most "marginalized" groups are in the name pushing a progressive political agenda.

A mostly white city council on behalf of mostly white protesters forced a black public servant out of a job over a policy that black people — some 80% of them — don't support. If that isn't the definition of liberalism in 2020, I don't know what is.
