The irony of any Democrat calling their party "too smart" when they promote Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez as their intellectual thought leader (see Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Compares Her Election to the Moon Landing and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Claims She’s an American Revolutionary) is not lost on anyone with more than two brain cells. It is however lost on Senator Hirono.

One of the things that we Democrats have a really hard time is connecting to people's hearts instead of [their brains].

When you have a really hard time doing that and one of the reasons that was shown to me at one of our retreats was that we Democrats know so much, that is true. We have to kind of tell everyone how smart we are and so we have a tendency to be very left-brain.

For someone who claims to be smart...

If this is what Democrats are going to run on, if they honestly think voters outside of San Francisco and Park Slope are too busy eating lead paint to know better, just skip 2020 and try again after Trump's second term. It's not that voters are too stupid not to vote for Democrats. It's because they see how little Democrats think or care about anyone who thinks differently than they do. As evident by a US Senator who thinks people don't vote for Democrats because they're too dumb to do so. Read: they don't know any better.

If anything, Democrats are speaking to the lizard brain. They're speaking to mobs, hoping no one uses their head at all.
