"Today we talk about rights in the sense that whatever you want to do, everyone has to pay for it," Crowder said.
San Francisco has appointed Virgie Tovar to assist in a department regarding “weight stigma and neutrality.”
"Out of all of the things San Francisco needs, 'fat expert' would not have cracked my top ten," Crowder added. “If you are a giant, fat lady in the United States in 2024, how much more liberating do you need?”
According to the New York Post:
Virgie Tovar, the author of ‘You Have the Right to Remain Fat” and other published works on “fat positivity and body acceptance” announced on her Instagram Monday that she was hired to consult for the department, calling the collaboration an “absolute dream come true.”
“This woman is profiting off your ill health,” Crowder said. “You follow this, you will have health problems and you will die young.”
“I’m unbelievably proud to serve the city I’ve called home for almost 20 years in this way!” she wrote. “This consultancy is an absolute dream come true, and it’s my biggest hope and belief that weight neutrality will be the future of public health.”
Tovar’s website lists her as a ”plus-size Latina author, lecturer, and leading expert on weight-based discrimination and body positivity with over a decade of experience.”
"You should never shame children but shame is a tool for adults who know better but do the wrong thing anyway," Crowder said. "She actually wants to find a way to not move and burn calories."
However, it's unclear how exercising and losing weight is fat-phobic, as it's actually one of the healthiest things you can do if you are overweight.
"Obesity and depression are often interlinked, which may explain why this woman is miserable," Crowder said.
She also previously claimed that "Weight is not a consistent, reliable indicator of someone's health status."
"Trust the science. Weight is one of and often the most reliable indicator of a health test," Crowder added.
This is used because it is an inexpensive measurement everyone already has.
She also believes that being fat is a civil right.
"There could not be a more privileged, leftist point of view in the modern world than 'fat phobia is oppressive," Crowder said.
