Shane Gillis made his long-awaited appearance on SNL last night, and not unlike during the rare instances when they allow actual comedians on the sketch comedy show, he crushed. It'll probably be the last time SNL lets it happen this season.

The Gillis drama goes back to 2019. Shane, a working comedian, was hired as a cast member for SNL, an alleged comedy show. Then a cancel blogger revealed mean jokes he made on a podcast, like every other comedian who does podcasts anywhere ever. This was back when Twitter 1.0 was a thing and you had Marxist twats manipulating trends, so it "trended" that people were "outraged" by these jokes. SNL fired him before he got the chance to even debut.

Five years later, Shane has become one of the top comedians in the game. He went from being fired as a cast member to hosting the show, where, of course, he is catching some heat for his monologue. Not everyone finds jokes about Down Syndrome funny. I'm not going to do the "three idiots dropping X on the same opinion" thing, and if I wrote out a transcript it would lose context. Just sit back and enjoy the full performance.

He even got to do his Trump impersonation. As opposed to the glorified leftist struggle session the show opened up with, this was actually pretty funny.

Our friend Josh Firestine commented on Gillis' artistry, calling his appearance "great work from a great comic."

Old Row's Nick Watts was authorized to speak on behalf of the fellas, many of whom turned in to watch SNL for the first time in a decade. Two things were noticeable. The first was how great Shane was. The second was how horrible everything else SNL touches is:

"How do you guys still have a 20-foot pole up your ass? How are you still running the same exhausted bits from 2016?? How has no one showed you a Netflix special or even a podcast in the last year??? Comedy has made its return to normalcy and snl hasn’t paid any attention to it. The last time snl was at the forefront of comedy was when they ran it into the ground."

It was a reminder of what SNL once was and could be again if the show ever decided they wanted to be funny again.
