At least until November, when 81,000,000 of you owe us an amends. The question is how to deal with the pain at the pump right now when you fill up your tank. Shaq has a solution: don't fill up your tank! Only let your tank get down to half, then put $20 in.

Follow his logic. It makes kinda, sorta sense.

"You're complaining when it gets to zero, you put in $80. When it gets to half, you put in $20. Then when it gets to half again, you keep putting in $20."

Shaq's plan doesn't help with the overall cost. There is only one thing that will do that. But it's a mental game. Having to spend at least $80 all at once is what makes people angry. But if you trick yourself and only put in $20 at a time, it doesn't feel so bad. Sure, you're spending the same amount. You're making more trips to the gas station. But you drive past tons of them all the time anyway. It's not like you're going out of your way. Now instead of the soul-crushing $80+ a trip, it's a more manageable $20 a trip. Shaq's plan makes at least 50.1% sense.

We can't do anything about gas prices now. The people who can do something refuse to. All that's left is tricking ourselves into thinking everything sucks less.
