Watch: "Shark Tank" star explains how horrible Trump "fraud" decision is slow enough for even CNN to understand
Kevin O’Leary, aka "Mr. Wonderful," has been making the rounds explaining how badly New York has screwed up their business climate (again). Last week, Donald Trump was found guilty of "fraud" to the tune of almost half a billion dollars. I put fraud in finger quotes because, as O'Leary explains, it's not fraud and, at this point, isn't even about Trump anymore.
We covered the legal decision in detail on Monday's show. There are two key things to know:
- New York Attorney General Letitia James campaigned for office that she was gonna "get Trump."
- The best she could come up with is accusing him of "fraud" over a bank loan that was paid off with interest and that the bank in question testified they had no issues with.
O'Leary spoke with CNN's Laura Coates. You may remember her from such journalisming classics as "CNN declares today's SCOTUS decision on affirmative action will destroy our military and... wait, what?" Coates thinks that companies will be happy to know the NY AG is protecting them from "fraud." Mr. Wonderful explained how that was stupid.
"What fraud? This is not about Trump anymore. You get a developer that builds a building and he says it’s worth $400 million, and he wants to borrow $200 million from a bank, which happens every day, everywhere on earth [...] That haggling has gone on for decades. That’s how it works."
JUST IN: Kevin O’Leary educates CNN host about the Trump “fraud” trial, says every developer in America would be penalized like Trump if treated the same way.

This follows a Fox Business interview where he wondered how New York became such a loser state.
"The fine people of New York should ask themselves, 'Why are we such a loser state?'"
57% of New York didn't bother voting in 2022, so maybe we can start with them. https://t.co/J9aR28Sea6

To O'Leary's point, Democrat NY Governor Kathy Hochul wants businesses not to be afraid bout doing business in New York. Trump is a unique case in which they were able to use this common thing all developers do as a political attack. So as long as none of you are like Trump...
“Law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are businesspeople have nothing to worry about because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior.”
Question: why should anyone believe you? These are the same Democrats who lied about banning gas stoves and have never met a small business destroying mandate they didn't fondle their private parts over. Now there is precedence that they will accuse you of fraud where there is no fraud, for no other reason than they don't like you politically.
To believe "Trump is very different" means you would have to believe Marxist NY Democrats wouldn't do this to a business owner or investor who much as liked a social media post saying boys shouldn't compete against girls in high school sports or that maybe George Floyd wasn't a good person.
This is who Democrats are. It's best to do business in states that are smart enough not to elect them.
