Shaun King Demands Boycott of the NFL Until Colin Kaepernick gets Signed...
Happy Game Day! Football season is upon us, people. Fantasy lineups are being tweaked, beer is being bought, and wings are getting fried. Sounds like a party. But, every party has its pooper, and that pooper is everyone's favorite non-black guy, Shaun King. Shaun is sore over Colin Kaepernick not having a team, so he's calling for a boycott of the NFL until Kaepernick gets signed.
So, I’m asking you to join me in boycotting the NFL this year. We will end our boycott when Colin Kaepernick is signed to an NFL roster. It’s that simple. Listen, we have power,” King wrote. “Our money has power. Our viewership has power. Our buying power can sway what companies do or don’t support. But we have to unify and make this power mean something. These white team owners cannot believe that Colin took a stance against injustice in America without their expressed permission and blessing. And they particularly cannot believe that when they expressed their displeasure, that he continued to do it anyway — with players all over the league following his example,” King wrote. “That’s why they hate him. He is a quiet, peaceful man. To hate him says much more about you than it does about Colin.
Wanna know the last thing people want to see on the Sunday gridiron? Political grandstanding. The NFL learned that the hard way last year when their ratings went straight into the crapper. Mostly thanks to Kaepernick taking a weekly dump on the U-S-of-A with his kneeling schtick. No team wants Kaepernick's drama and the distracting media circus that follows him. Hence, Colin standing in the unemployment line.
This might sound odd to leftists, but football teams are there to play football. Not to raise awareness for trendy social causes. Causes, I might add, that have very little basis in fact. If Kaepernick wanted to preach his conspiracy theories about imaginary police murder squads on the other six days of the week, his career probably wouldn't have suffered. But, when he persistently carried his politics onto the field, it started to peeve the wrong people.
Talcum X can cry foul and demand all the boycotts. But, Kaepernick getting canned has nothing to do with racism and everything to do with people being sick of round-the-clock politics. If Colin would shut his Castro-loving piehole and focus on the game, teams might make him an offer. But, as long as he continues to focus on everything BUT football, he's going to be out of a job.
