Anti-Semitism in America: How to Destroy Your Cause & Piss People Off (Watch)
Rabbi Levi Shemtov is trying to make ‘anti-anti-Semitism’ the next social issue since BLM tried to make ‘anti-racist’ a thing. Today’s show breaks it down.
"Of course, if anyone is harassing Jews on campus, that's completely impermissible just as harassing any other student on campus," Crowder said. "As it relates to government institutions and public figures, that is an anti-American viewpoint."
According to ColLive:
Rabbi Levi Shemtov, Executive Vice President of American Friends of Lubavitch (Chabad) in Washington, DC, told a U.S. Senate hearing about Antisemitism on College Campuses that Jewish students feel that their safety is secondary to politics.
"This gives credence to the idea that Jews in this country place an allegiance to Judaism before the United States. Not all Jews do that," Crowder said. "Who are you to say what we can and can't say and what we can and can't think? Sounds a lot like BLM, communism, and hate speech."
The issue here is with compelled speech, which is also unconstitutional.
"As an American and citizen of this country, where my loyalty lies, I have to protect the right of individuals to express themselves and exercise the First Amendment provided they are not committing a crime," Crowder said. "This is bad. This is a bad look. This is a bad message, and it’s going to sow more division.”
While most people are and should be on board with ending the harassment and/or violence against students on campus, it’s unclear if he’s advocating to mandate speech or a specific side in terms of public policy.
"I am on board with ending violence of students on campus and I am on board with ending organizations that support actual terrorism that call for the extermination of Jews. But I also understand that there are some people out there who have different views of Israel who should be able to express their opinion.”
