WATCH: Sheriff David Clarke Nails it on Whiny NFL Protesters
We've been keeping you up to date on the NFL as it self destructs (see DUH! Poll Shows NFL Viewership Declined Because of Anthem Protests). At least their self implosion has offered us some entertainment. The latest development involves Roger Goodell putting together a meeting where owners are supposed to discuss some kind of a solution to the protests. Stupid and unnecessary? You bet. Sheriff Clarke has a few things to say on the matter. When asked what he thought about the whole ordeal during a Hannity interview, Clarke didn't disappoint:
"The tail is wagging the dog here. The league has the authority ... to set rules and procedures for their employees. Players are employees," Clarke said.He noted that NFL owners representatives from the NFL Players Association are planning to meet in New York City next week to discuss the anthem controversy.
"What the hell is there to discuss?" Clarke said. "Stand at attention, face the flag and give it some respect."
There were some great points here. Namely the fact that this isn't a First Amendment issue. The NFL violates zero rights by enforcing a code of conduct for their employees. Alas, it's hard for shriveled leftist minds to understand such details.
One can't help but think the best answer to these tantrums isn't for us to get super !!OFFENDED!! on behalf of the flag and those who fought for it. They don't need us to. Lets leave being offended to the left and their league of professional victims. Instead, lets point out the facts -- the NFL doesn't have to cave in to social justice demands, and the workplace isn't an appropriate venue for silly protests. Not a difficult concept. Of course, #ProtestOnOurOwnTime doesn't have the same ring to it as #TakeAKnee...
