Controversy erupted this week over a New York City skateboarding competition. Ricci Tres won the Boardr Open in the women's division. Two reasons for controversy. One is that Tres was born a biological man and was competing against girls who weren't. The other is that Tres is twenty-nine years old, and the other athletes were little girls aged 10-16. The Daily Mail interviewed Ricci about her stunning win, and if she has any regrets.

In a word? F*ck them kids.

"It’s funny it’s what I am getting beat up over the most, people saying 'you’re beating little kids, little girls'. [...] I didn’t intend to do that. This is the first one I’ve been to that I actually wanted to win....the age thing doesn’t really count."

The 29-year-old Ricci believes the age thing doesn't count, adding that competing against a 12-year-old is just as much of a threat to her as competing against an adult. That makes the minors fair game in Ricci's eyes.

Other biological males have the decency to compete against women their own age. Just sayin'.

Of the six female competitors at this past weekend's competition, four were under the age of seventeen. Ricci Tres was the fifth. The sixth competitor, Chrissy Brown aka Sosii, is 28 years old. She came in 4th, beating out a ten-year-old and a twelve-year-old. It's hard to judge from a photo, but let's just say 28-year-old Sosii, much like Ricci, is looking a little rough.

If a cisgender 29-year-old woman entered a competition for little girls and not only crushed those little girls' hopes and dreams but bragged about, that cisgender 29-year-old would be an asshole. In case you were wondering where the "common ground" we're supposed to find with each other went.
