Ha ha: Jussie Smollett headed back to jail over hate crime hoax after an appeals court did this
Since we have a culture that rewards victimhood status, we will inevitably produce an increasing number of victims and subsequently, we will have fewer individuals attempt to overcome adversity.
Jussie Smollett is one of those people who need to be rewarded for victimhood.
Smollett may be going back to jail as an appeals court upheld his convictions related to the 2019 hate crime hoax after he was convicted in 2021 of five felony counts related to the alleged attack and sentenced to 150 days in jail.
The “Empire” star, 41, was convicted in 2021 of five felony counts of disorderly conduct related to the alleged racist, homophobic attack and sentenced to 150 days behind bars.
He served just six days of the sentence while the appeal was pending.
Smollett challenged the role of the special prosecutors, the jury selection, evidence, and other aspects of the case against him – but the convictions were ultimately upheld in 2-1 opinion from the Illinois Appeal Court.
Smollett had reported to police that he was the victim of a homophobic and racist attack by two men. The investigation and search for the attackers led to charges that Smollett had orchestrated the entire hoax.
He told officers he had been beaten by racist and homophobic assailants and claimed his “attackers” said “This is MAGA county,” while beating him.
However, Lawyers for Smollett have publicly claimed that he was the target of a racist justice system and people playing politics, according to AP.
Yes, Jussie Smollett is not backing down and is still determined to play the victim.
“We are preparing to escalate this matter to the Supreme Court,” Smollett spokeswoman Holly Baird said, referring to Illinois’ highest court.
I am not surprised he is doubling down since this is the last acting role he will probably ever have. At least for a very long time. This is truly the only way he will get the attention he so desperately needs.
The two Nigerian brothers responsible for helping Smollett carry out his fake hate crime attack have since apologized for the stunt. (Editor's note: My favorite part of this story is that twins are actual Trump supporters now)
In a Fox News special, Abimbola told the network: “The police did ask us what Jussie’s motive was, but Jussie did not really tell me a motive.”
“[But] from what he was speaking about, or talking about, I would say what he wanted to accomplish was to increase his star level,” he continued.
Smollett will likely have to finish his 150-day sentence in jail as he only spent six days because his appeal was pending.
One of the many reasons why hate crime hoaxes are so bad is that it makes real claims harder to believe. A large number of people are striving to be the most oppressed and the most abused. This is what happens when we reward people based on "identity" and oppression points.
Anyway, enjoy this Tweet from Kamala Harris that aged like fine wine.
She was asked about it two years later and well, this is what she had to say.
Don’t worry, Kamala. You can finally sleep at night since the facts are no longer folding.
