SNL Passes on DNC/Hillary Parody. Airs Unfunny Sarah Sanders Sketch Instead...
The drama this past week over Donna Brazile's book and the DNC "rigging" the election against Bernie Sanders seemed ripe for parody on SNL. Especially seeing as the episode was hosted by Larry David, who does a hilarious Bernie Sanders impersonation. I mean, not as good as Crowder's, but still.
Instead, the writers went with this lame attack on Sarah Sanders:
Oh look, another "Trump and his cronies are dumb, lying conservatives" diatribe posing as comedy.
This sketch is just the same boring leftist talking points repackaged. I guess SNL thinks if they say "Trump is Satan" enough times, it'll stick in the viewers' minds. Instead, we just roll our eyes and switch the channel.
This week set up a perfect opportunity for Kate McKinnon to pull her Hillary impersonation out of mothballs for a good lampooning. But, that would shine a light on the sinking ship that is the DNC. So, SNL adjusted their focus toward conservatives.
Also let's not pretend they forgot "Bernie" was available.
Public figures are fair game, sure. Lord knows Sarah Sanders isn't the first press secretary to be parodied for shall we say "believing invalid truths." (Hit the comments section if you know that movie reference.)
But, just like when they sexualized KellyAnne Conway, the sketch is less good-natured parody, more hate-filled hit piece. If we did a similar parody of Fauxcahontas Warren or Nancy "the Cryptkeeper" Pelosi (eww, I think just threw up in my mouth a little), leftists would blow a fuse. The same leftists who probably think this Sanders sketch was rip-roaringly hilarious.
C'mon SNL, you're sometimes better than this.
