Canada was generally considered to be a free country that respected individual rights. But somewhere down the leftist line, freedom of thought was thrown out and replaced with Progressive ideology. Subsequently, camps where people are re-indoctrinated into the regime's way of thinking is the status quo. Well, at least for Dr. Jordan B Peterson it is.

Jordan was ordered to undergo “remedial social media training.” He fought that order. But Canadia's highest court has essentially told him he has no right to fight that and was not given an explanation.

According to the National Post:

“Jordan Peterson has failed in his attempt to have the Ontario justice system prevent the College of Psychologists of Ontario from ordering him to undergo remedial social media training.

On Tuesday, a panel of three judges with the Ontario Court of Appeal dismissed Peterson’s motion for leave to appeal an earlier decision by the Ontario Divisional Court. No reasons were given, which is normal for the appeal court.

‘I think it’s going to be a license to regulatory bodies to be more aggressive,’ said Howard Levitt, the lawyer who represented the controversial psychologist and best-selling author.

Levitt, a Toronto employment lawyer and Financial Post columnist, said they are unable to appeal further. He’s surprised, given the international media attention Peterson’s case garnered, that the courts did not want to weigh in on the extent to which professional regulatory bodies can police members’ speech.”

I know what you are thinking. How can a so-called “free” country that presumably respects civil liberties do something like this? Well, it turns out that unless you are in the U.S., Free Speech is pretty much an illusion for most “free” societies.

“‘Over the course of 2022, the college — which governs the conduct of psychologists practicing in Ontario — received a number of complaints about Peterson’s online behavior. The concerns included his tweets about a plus-sized Sports Illustrated model, whom he said was ‘not beautiful’ and Elliot Page’s gender transition, who he said ‘had her breasts removed by a criminal physician.’ There were also complaints about his views on climate change and ‘aggressive’ conduct towards Gerald Butts, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s former principal secretary.

In January 2023, Peterson posted a document online detailing several of the complaints against him.”

It is unclear what rules or laws Peterson broke, if any. But he has maintained that his conduct was protected by political speech and has nothing to do with his license.

The Aug. ruling by the Ontario Divisional Court said that it is not that he lost his "freedom of expression" but that he must abide by the rules of his "regulatory body." And by the regulatory body, they don’t mean God. They mean some invisible bureaucratic organization.

They used the whole “the vaccine is not mandatory” justification. It is not that you are being forced to take the shot, it is that if you don’t, you will lose your job and livelihood.

In other words, it is not that he lost his freedom of thought, it's that if he does not acquiesce to the demands of this regulatory body, there will be consequences. He can still talk his talk, but he will lose his license. Even if what happened has nothing to do with the profession of psychology.

So it is the case that Canada does “respect” individual liberties. It is just that there are consequences if you act in the way the regime disapproves of. Makes sense, doesn’t it?
