A transgender clinic in St. Louis will begrudgingly no longer prescribe gender hormones to minors thanks to a new state law that exposes doctors to lawsuits if they provide such treatments.

Washington University joined University of Missouri Health as the latest provider to announce it is canceling pre-existing prescriptions for puberty blockers or hormone-replacement therapy.

Missouri’s new law bans putting kids on puberty blockers or cross-sex hormones and performing gender surgery on minors.

Although the law allows an exception for patients already on hormone treatments, the Transgender Center chose to stop offering hormone treatments to all patients because the ban exposes doctors to lawsuits, university officials said.

You would think in a sane society you wouldn’t need a commonsense law to prevent doctors from abusing children like this. But unfortunately, we live in a time where doctors are providing care based on a patient's desires and not in their best interest.

“This legal claim creates unsustainable liability for health-care professionals and makes it untenable for us to continue to provide comprehensive transgender care for minor patients without subjecting the university and our providers to an unacceptable level of liability,” according to a statement from the university.

This decision by the clinic comes after whistleblower accusations against them earlier this year.

Former case manager Jamie Reed came forward with allegations that the clinic had hastily put children with psychiatric issues on hormone treatments, and alleged that the clinic did not make sure people were aware of the side effects.

The New York Times reported that emergency staff at the hospital started seeing a spike in trans-identifying children at the same time that were showing up every day in a psychiatric crisis.

This rapid expansion of services that the clinic subsequently performed after it was caught hastily prescribing hormone treatments to kids should raise alarm.

It seems the clinic was profiting greatly from transgender patients. It's no wonder they withheld critical information in regards to side effects.

Sounds like they profited big by taking advantage of some of the most vulnerable people in society.
