Conservative anti-crime Senate ad so hits the target, Starbucks and a liberal newspaper want to shut it down
Tiffany Smiley is the Republican running to unseat Sen. Patty Murray in the U.S. Senate. She just released an ad attacking Murray for being soft on crime that if Starbucks and the Seattle Times have their druthers you won't get to see. That's why you should watch it right now.
🚨NEW AD🚨Patty Murray’s soft-on-crime record has cost lives and livelihoods. I will work hard to bring an end to the crime crisis, and deliver hope for Washington’s crime victims! pic.twitter.com/gWyco1JfgN
— Tiffany Smiley (@SmileyForWA) September 20, 2022
The video attacks Murray's decades in Washington supporting policies that have led to the crime progressive cities like Seattle are suffering from.
You can’t even get a cup of coffee from a hometown shop on Capitol Hill.
You may remember Capitol Hill from the Capitol Hill Autonomous Zone (CHAZ), where leftists were allowed to take over city blocks and secede from America. Then, when critics mocked them because CHAZ rhymes with SPAZ, they changed to the Capitol Hill Occupied Protest (CHOP). Then when someone was killed, the city decided to stop it.
Smiley uses headlines from the Seattle Times to back up her assertions, which if you've ever seen a political ad before, is common enough in that EVERY POLITICAL AD EVERYWHERE DOES THE SAME. One of the headlines was about Starbucks closing stores because it was unsafe for employees to work there.
First, the Seattle Times sent a cease and desist letter, claiming Jane Smiley was using copyrighted material without permission. Yes, the newspaper's lawyers got Tiffany's name wrong. Yes, the newspaper endorsed Patty Murray. Starbucks was quick to do the same. Almost, as if, it was coordinated.
Under normal circumstances, a senate race in a deep blue state wouldn't be worth bandwidth. HOWEVER, recent polls have Smiley STATISTICALLY TIED with Murray. This is also after the Cook Report moved the neighboring Oregon Governor's race to a toss-up.
In wave elections, if the wave is big enough it takes out incumbents that are surprising. Crime is a HUGE albatross around Democrats' necks. Even Jen Psaki says so. And if they're trying to shut down a campaign ad that is no different than every other campaign ad, SOMEONE on Team Murray is scared right now.
