Well, this is a nice change of pace. But the Montclair student government saying Heck to the No to turning a college into a "sanctuary campus?" Well slap my butt and call me Susan...

The student government bill would have recommended that university administrators designate MSU a sanctuary campus, refuse to cooperate with federal immigration officials, give in-state tuition to DACA students, and “refuse ICE physical access to all land owned or controlled by the university,” according to The Montclair Patch.

Despite widespread support for such measures at other colleges across the country, the Montclair SGA was unable to get the required two-thirds approval from its 16 legislators, who voted via anonymous paper ballot rather than the usual method of public hand-raising.

The bill’s sponsor, Wellington Gomez, called the anonymous vote “cowardly” and questioned why legislators would have voted against the idea, which received support from 74 percent of students in a survey sent out last week.

“I thought the secret vote was very cowardly,” he told The Montclarion. “If you are so passionate about the vote and you feel good about the vote, why do it in secret? This was our chance to protect undocumented students.”

Actually, you vote in secret because of how full of hate and violence-fueled progressives are when they don't get their way (see also Author Says Some People Smarter than Others. Mob of Neanderthals Attack!). Or, whenever you have a different opinion than them about anything ever. So there's that.

The student government going against the "Illegals are fine people and we should all shelter them from the feds who are, under Trump, rounding these 'acts of love' up to be deported" is the brave and morally right thing to do. What with illegals having a habit of continuing their crime-breaking spree by sometimes raping the ladies. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the meme of the day was "Colleges have rape culture" and "One out of four cis-ladies will get pantsed by some frat boy on a bender," kind of thing. How is inviting illegal people to your campus going to combat said narrative?

Assigning critical thinking work to a committed leftist on campus is as useful as strapping tiny saddles on snails for a new pony express. Though I think one would be far more entertaining than the other, I'll let you decide which.

We must give virtual fist bumps to the student government who flipped their middle digits to the progressive professors who wouldn't have to deal with the illegal students as much as the actual student body. We tip our mugs in your general direction. Up nods all around, dudes and dudettes.
