Let's be blunt. This story is why the "how to make schools safer" debate needs to be about school safety. Not the leftist vendetta against the NRA's effective voter turnout. There were no guns involved in this Utah High School incident. Just a bomb. Also, ISIS.

A male high school student has been arrested for manufacturing, possessing, and attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction after Pine View High students spotted a "suspicious backpack" on campus.  St. George Police Department officers also believe the suspect is connected to vandalizing Hurricane High School last month by replacing the school's American flag with an ISIS flag and painting "ISIS is comi—" on one of its exterior walls with graffiti.

According to a Police Department news release, members of the FBI, Washington County Bomb Squad, Washington County Sheriff's Office, Washington County School District, and a bomb-detecting K-9 responded to Pine View at around 12:20 on Monday after a student noticed a backpack in a common area on campus that appeared to be smoking.

The student notified a teacher and the school resource officer on duty.

See, when a school resource officer does their job (see Student Blasts Resource Officer Who Cowered During Parkland Shooting and Hero Student Files Lawsuit Against Broward County Sheriff's Office), students' lives are saved. Whoever thought people doing that which they were tasked to do would result in... well, results?

"After examining the device, bomb squad members indicated that if it had detonated, the device had the potential to cause significant injury or death," according to the news release.

Here's a mental exercise I hate making. But have you met the left lately?

Say, God forbid, the bomb went off. People are killed. Some of the survivors then sit around a kitchen table and decide #NeverAgain. #ItsTime to do something about Islamic terrorism. Let's vote out any elected official who has been ignoring Islamic extremism. OUR LIVES ARE AT STAKE! THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT KIDZ.

Does anyone at NBC News, CNN, or Hollywood care about teenage opinions then? When the right has been saying for now over a decade, "Hey, this Islamic terrorism is problematic"?

Of course, they wouldn't. Acknowledging the clear and present danger that is Islamic terrorism is verboten. Maligning the NRA, which heretofore is responsible for zero mass shootings, is priority numero uno.

Maybe we should stop putting a happy face on terrorism. Maybe we should start assigning blame where appropriate, and not which is politically expedient. Or riles up the base to levels of piranhas presented with the abundant contents of Michael Moore's second pantry.
